Meet Our Team: Gabriel
If you’re planning a mountain bike adventure with us at Pura Vida Ride, there’s a good chance you’ll meet Gabriel—better known as “Gabo.” Over the past year, Gabo has become an essential part of our team as both a skilled bike mechanic and one of our experienced tour guides.
Gabo brings a deep passion and impressive background in cycling. Born and raised in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, he has spent years training and competing in both mountain and road bike races across the country. With multiple podium finishes under his belt—including two at last year’s Torneo Liberiano—Gabo’s love for riding is clear the moment you hit the trail with him.
In addition to his racing chops, Gabo studied bike mechanics at Ciclo San Nicolas and Shimano Bike Center in San José, and now works alongside Ema to keep our fleet in top shape.
When asked what he loves most about biking, Gabo doesn’t hesitate: “Being out in nature, meeting people, and seeing the beauty of Costa Rica—it just feels natural.” He’s especially excited to introduce riders to the world-class singletrack trails here in Las Catalinas, which are unlike any others in the country.
Gabo’s tours are more than just great rides—they’re immersive experiences. Whether he’s pointing out monkeys in the trees, sharing fun facts about native plants, or making sure your ride is perfectly matched to your skill level, Gabo takes pride in showing guests a different side of Costa Rica.
Worried about difficulty? Don’t be. Gabo believes that with a little experience and the right route, most riders can enjoy the Las Catalinas trails. He’ll always chat with you beforehand to pick the perfect trail—and remind you to bring water and a sweet snack for energy.
After your ride, you can kick back at our café with a fresh coffee or take a dip in the ocean. However you finish your day, one thing’s for sure: seeing Costa Rica by bike with Gabo is an experience you won’t forget.
